As I write we are seated, waiting for it to be 2:30 so the train can depart. I loved the history that Florence gave us. Z drives a total of 80 minutes to and from work every day so rather than sit in a car listening to the radio that plays every song over and over, he listens to books on tape. Being the loving husband that he is, he also gets me books so Natey and I can be read to while we are out and about. My most recent book was on a young girl living in Florence during the 15th and 16th century. It’s a book about coming of age but its based on historical facts, my favorite type of book. I loved the book (sorry I can’t recall the name this very moment but I will post it as soon as it comes to me for those of you interested). I am now extra happy I read it as Florence’s prime time was during this period and most of its museums are palaces turned museums that belonged to the prominent families of this period. Everywhere we went it tied back to something in the book, especially all the famous artists and its schools that were described in detail in the book.
I don’t have many pictures to show you since I forgot to take my ipad (that’s what I’m using to blog) both days we were out. So unfortunately all you’re going to get are the only pictures I took with the ipad. When I get home I will upload pictures that I took with my camera. I snuck in a picture of the great statue of David for you. The statue is definitely breathtaking, definitely worth the wait (we waited about an hour to go in). Z and I went to dinner overlooking the entire city, it was definitely beautiful, especially because there was a spinning party that went from 5pm to what I am going to guess 3-4 in the morning ( you could hear it all around town). There were about 100 cyclist pumping away while the music blasted. As the night fell, the disco lights came on and Florence felt just like it feels in downtown LA when the Lakers are going to play.
We had very good food everywhere we went, very fresh and made to order. My favorite dish has probably been an appetizer that was made of cheese and asparagus, intertwined just perfectly. Although a beautiful city, I am ready to move on to the next. We’re headed to the most romantic city that ever was 😉 Who knows, maybe we’ll be expecting our next little bundle of joy earlier than expected.
I’m getting a bit train sick so I’m going to have to cut this post short. Good night!
